Oscar Predictions 2010

Last year, on the day of the Oscars, I styled the stars. Well, not exactly...
But, I did pick out the dresses that I thought the "Best Actress" nominees should wear on
their big night.

I had such a good time doing it that I thought I would do it again and continue the tradition.
Here are my picks for this year's nominees:

Sandra Bullock (my favorite nominee) looks best in classic styles. That is why I turned to
Carolina Herrera for her Oscar gown. This stunning dress will flatter her figure and the deep
purple shade will look incredible with her coloring.

Helen Mirren - a red carpet favorite who makes growing older look both glamorous and graceful -
always looks flawless. Her porcelain skin and silver-blonde hair were made for Spring's "nude"
trend. That is why I have chosen Elie Saab's gorgeous nude floor-length gown with flutter
sleeves from their Spring 2010 Couture show.

Carey Mulligan is the resident ingenue of the nominees. Because of this, I would like to see
her in something fashion forward. Almost everything that Alber Elbaz sent down the Spring
2010 runway for Lanvin would look amazing on her, but I would put her in one of the dramatic
black knee-length dresses that began his show.

Meryl Streep has the enviable problem of deciding what to wear to the Oscars for the second
year in a row. I have selected this classic black and white column dress from Armani Prive's
lunar-inspired 2010 couture collection.

Gabourey Sidibe - a newcomer to acting - has clearly found her calling. Nominated for an Oscar
for her very first major role, she must be overwhelmed by the whole red-carpet process. On
top of the surreal experience, I imagine that it is difficult to find a runway-ready look
when most designers do not make garments in her size. Well, I am sure that Elie Saab would
be more than willing to accomodate her. Saab's gorgeous ocean blue gown from his Spring 2010
ready-to-wear collection would be an ideal choice. Sidibe's deep, dark skintone just begs to be
draped in a bright, bold color and the fitted bust combined with the flowy skirt would be a
flattering silhouette.

Congratulations to all the nominees! Here's to a star-studded and fashion-filled night!
