Alexander McQueen was laid to rest last Thursday. The 40 minute long ceremony was attended by his closest friends in the fashion world as well as his father and five siblings.

It was a quiet ceremony, but a fashionable one. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney attended the service dressed in fashionable black ensembles and his family wore the classic
Scottish tartan plaid that McQueen often used in his collections and often wore himself.

McQueen's coffin emerged at the end of the ceremony covered in red and pink roses and adorned with a white floral wreath bearing his real name - Lee. His family then followed him to his
burial site in a pair of chauffered Jaguars.

McQueen may have been laid to rest, but his fashion house has not. The Gucci Group - the McQueen label's parent company - has anounced that the label will continue in McQueen's absence. Despite the fact that they believe Lee to be "irreplacable," they also believe that a continuation of his label is the best way to respect his memory and his legacy. However, when pressed for information about who would take's McQueen's place, Robert Polet - chief of the Gucci Group - said that it was "premature" to discuss his replacement.

With that statement, Polet ensured that although McQueen is finally at peace, his followers and fans are not. True peace will only come when all of the questions have been answered and
all of the plans for the future of the label have been made.

And even then, peace for those he left behind may never truly come.
